The National Federation of Cypriots in the United Kingdom organises, hosts, sponsors and contributes to a variety of meetings and events throughout the year.
Events in support of Cyprus organised by the Federation annually include a mass rally in Trafalgar Square held to mark the anniversary of the invasion of Cyprus by the Turkish army in July 1974 and to condemn the continuing Turkish military occupation of the island’s northern part. Other annual Federation events relating to the Cyprus problem include lobby meetings in the House of Commons, dinner debates with senior political figures from the UK and Cyprus, a picketing outside the Houses of Parliament for the persons missing since the Turkish invasion of the island and a demonstration outside the Turkish embassy to condemn the unilateral declaration of independence by the illegal regime in the occupied northern part of Cyprus.
In addition, the Federation is responsible for the organisation, coordination or official sponsorship of a series of other community based events in the fields of politics, business and finance, education, science and the professions, culture, media and the Arts.
