President: Peter Droussiotis
Peter was elected President of the Federation for the first time in June 2007, the first second generation Cypriot elected to that position and the fourth President of the organisation since its establishment, having previously served on the Executive and the Secretariat of the Federation for two separate terms. He is also a member of the Cyprus President’s ‘Overseas Cypriots’ Advisory Committee’ and Vice President of the World Federation of Overseas Cypriots. Peter was re-elected unanimously to the position of President of the Federation for a second and third term in 2009 and 2011 respectively.
Peter has also served as President of Episteme – The Association of British Cypriot Professionals since 1997 and has previously been a leading Labour Councillor in the London Borough of Haringey (1998 – 2002). He is currently Chairman of the Labour Cypriot Society of which he was a founding member. He had also been Chair of the Corporate and Finance Group of the Society of Labour Lawyers for a number of years and is active in his local community, including as Chair of the Friends of Albert Road Recreation Ground since 2003. Peter was also elected as a Trustee of the Hellenic Centre Trust in 2011.
A barrister by background, Peter founded PGD Strategy Limited, a specialist corporate finance and strategy consulting firm, of which he is the current Chairman, in 2000, after a career which included senior executive roles with Credit Suisse, Minet Group (now part of Aon) and Price Waterhouse (now PWC).
Peter graduated with an LL.B (Law & Politics) Honours degree from the Faculty of Law at the University of Birmingham in 1983 and was called to the Bar of England & Wales at the Middle Temple in 1984. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and is a bilingual English and Greek speaker.
Peter’s interests include current/international affairs, history, travelling, the countryside, music and the Arts. His affiliations include the Euro Atlantic Group, the European Movement, the Smith Institute, the Fabian Society, Liberty and Friends of Cyprus. He is married to Carolyn with whom he has three daughters.
